Company «Fictions» [1977]
Guitar man - Bailey - has a peculiar à la Pollock ability to let drop the notes that become famous and not infamous Mengelbergs piano solo and interaction with soprano sax player Coxhill (in particular) on side 2 where he builds an incredible solo which incorporates quotes and dissections of several Beethoven sonatas (including the’ hammerklavier’), seemingly tossing them all in a rhythmic blender. Last but not least in this recording our men sings a lot without shame. Insane.
Out of print and hasn’t seen any cd reissue,
